How to Detox Your Skin

There is nothing wrong with having a great time with friends, family and enjoy a lovely meal, as long as we balance it out with nutritional healthy food and lots of fresh water. If you found however you have been feeling bloated or had a bit of a breakout, here are some skin care and well being tips to get your skin glowing.
Healthy Body Detox Tips
When you’re feeling bloated, the lymphatic system is sluggish, causing a buildup of water in the tissues. To get the lymphatics moving and flush the toxins out, drink 2 liters of water a day and avoid salt, sugar and alcohol (which cause water retention).
Start your day with hot water and the juice of ½ fresh squeezed lemon to detox your liver and re-alkalize your body. Discover more skin benefits of drinking lemon water. Enjoy some light to moderate exercise to get the muscles moving to help boost lymphatic flow. Swimming is especially good, as you glide through the water, the water also massages the skin, helping drain the lymphatics in the skin. Have you ever noticed that swimmers have less cellulite? This may be just the answer.

Massaging your body with oils infused with a few drops of fennel, juniper, lavender, chamomile, geranium, cypress, rosemary or grapefruit essential oils are terrific for fluid retention (avoid essential oils during pregnancy). Here is an interesting article about using aromatherapy essential oils for fluid retention.
Skin Care Detox Tips
If you found you are suffering from puffy eyes and face or had a bit of a breakout, book in for a facial and eye treatment that includes lymphatic drainage. The aesthetician will choose products for the eyes with actives such as lupine seed extract, yeast, cucumber, chamomile, cornflower extract, or vitamin PP to help drain puffiness. For the face, after a good exfoliation and deep cleansing the aesthetician will utilize powerful anti oxidants such as vitamins C and A to help neutralize free radicals and re-energize a sluggish skin. Cleansing your skin
Cleanse your skin morning and night to remove impurities that will simply overload the skin and cause it to break out. Choose cleansers formulated for sensitive skin as these will usually include calming and soothing botanicals, antioxidant vitamins and moisturizing agents. Stay away from foamy cleansers, these may be easy to use in the shower and leave a squeaky clean skin but that “squeaky” feeling is dehydration, the first sign of aging. Always choose milky or creamy cleansers which have a perfect balance of the right ingredients to remove impurities and condition the skin. Did you cleanse your skin last night?
Exfoliating
Exfoliate to remove dead cell buildup which can and will clog the pores. Clogged pores turn into blackheads, congestion or acne. It is best to prevent this from happening so give the skin a lift with a gentle yet effective exfoliant. DO NOT over exfoliate because this can over stimulate the skin and cause it to break out, and it can cause sensitivities and dehydration.
Deep Cleansing
Deep cleanse with a good enzymatic cleanser to decongest and remove biological impurities. Aestheticians will often use this in facials to leave that beautifully clean skin but these products are readily available to use at home. One of my favorites is Desquacrem Forte by Sothys.
Mask
I love using masks as these are the one thing you can do that give an INSTANT result. This is why aestheticians use a mask at the and of a facial, for that instant result. In this case, use a deep cleansing mask to draw out impurities and detox the skin. Look for actives such as titanium oxide, zinc oxide, kaolin, menthol and apricot extract. This will leave your skin feeling super smooth, bright and clear.
Serums
Serums are absolute essentials if you want more dramatic results fast. Choose serums that contain powerful antioxidants such as vitamin A and C. Vitamin A will help speed up sluggish cellular renewal and vitamin C will help to brighten and even out your skin tone. Vitamin C is also terrific for boosting collagen production.
Moisturizer
Your every-day moisturizer can be much more than that. It can be an active cream that gives you the results you’re after. Treatment creams have sophisticated delivery systems and advanced cosmeceutical ingredients to deliver great results. To detox your skin, look for antioxidant-rich treatment creams with vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids. What to look for in a professional quality moisturizer.
