Technology in skincare has come a long way and you can make your skin look younger for longer with these hardworking exceptional skin care ingredients. Look out for these ingredients in your cleansers, moisturisers and serums.  Layering products with these ingredients will achieve the best results.

Vitamin B3 - Niacinamide


The B group vitamins are all excellent for skin, but Vitamin B3 is a standout. Many years ago it was originally used for skin prone to breakouts because it helps skin heal and reduces inflammation. In recent times scientists have discovered it is a potent skin rejuvenating ingredients and also excellent for reducing pigmentation. The Sothys Brightening line and Clarte and Confort line contain this powerful anti-inflammatory and skin rejuvenating ingredient.

Vitamin C


Vitamin C has been a favourite for reducing pigmentation however it is also a powerful skin rejuvenating ingredient. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant reducing free radical damage in the skin and also helps to boost collagen production for firmer smoother skin. Everybody should be including a vitamin C serum and cream in their skin care routine especially here in Australia where our skin ages 10 x faster than our European counterparts.

Retinol


Retinol is a form of vitamin A, a powerful antioxidant and skin rejuvenating ingredient, perhaps one of the most important in modern skin care today. Original it has been used to treat acne and acne scarring. Scientists have discovered in has also powerful skin rejuvenating action on the skin.  Especially recommended or severely sun damaged skin and premature aging skin. If your skin has seen too much sun and it's showing it's years, Retinol can take literally years off your skin. Be careful with this ingredient, it can cause side effects in some people so you need to ease into using this powerful ingredient. Be sure to follow your beauty therapist instructions to use it correctly. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, avoid this ingredient.

Peptides


These are my personal favourite ingredients because I have seen incredible skin rejuvenating results with peptides. I've never known anyone to have any side effects to this powerful skin communicating ingredients that boost collagen production, firms the skin and reduces wrinkles. Which makes these ingredients a great addition to your anti-aging skin care routine. I think any women over 40 years old should switch to anti-aging creams with peptides to keep stimulating collagen production for younger skin.

So which of these ingredients is the best? 


It really depends on your skin and what you're trying to achieve. If you already have sun damaged, prematurely aging skin, definitely add Retinol to your skincare routine. The sooner the better. Avoid Retinol if you are younger and don’t have sun damage as Retinol can thin and sensitize your skin.

If your skin is not sun damaged but you would like to prevent aging, use creams with peptides and serums with vitamin C for prevention and skin rejuvenation. If you have pigmentation with ageing skin, niacinamide serum and Vitamin C cream is a good duo to brighten the skin. If you are in your 20s or 30s and concerned with prevention then start with a vitamin C serum as this is a safe and effective anti-aging ingredient for everyone.
